This Master involves the two departments of psychology at the Universidade da Coruña and it aims at providing students with postgraduate research training in Psychology. It is comprised of 60 European credits and it is scheduled to be completed in one academic year (from October to July). Alternatively, part-time enrolment is allowed, to make it compatible for students working. In this case, the Master is completed over the course of 2 years. For this reason, courses are scheduled in the afternoon/evening to avoid overlapping with working hours. Two specialties are available: "Health Psychology" and "Psychological Intervention in Educational Settings", and both may be continued further into new doctorate programs, allowing students to complete their training and obtaning a PhD degree. Lectures are given by PhD staff reputed in both lecturing and research. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you want further information.

In order to provide the necessary training to access to doctorate research, the Master in Applied Psychology aims to deepen knowledge and provide expertise in:

  • The functions, characteristics and limitations of the different theoretical models of Psychology.
  • The basic laws of the different psychological processes.
  • The processes and main stages of psychological development throughout the life cycle, in normal and abnormal situations.
  • The biological basis of human behaviour and psychological functions.
  • Psychosocial principles of groups and organizational functioning.
  • Research methods and data analysis techniques.
  • Assessment methods, diagnosis and psychological treatment in diverse applied areas of Psychology.

With the same aim, it also seeks to increase proficiency in the following field-specific skills:

  • Identifying the needs and demands of the recipients in the different fields of application, and setting the goals of psychological performance.
  • Identifying the relevant characteristics of individual behaviour.
  • Promoting health and quality of life in individuals, groups, communities and organizations in different contexts (educational, clinical, work and organizations, communitarian, groups) using psychological methodology.
  • Selecting and managing specific psychological techniques and tools.
  • Defining the objectives, planning and intervention techniques appropriatte to the needs and demands of the recipients.
  • Conveying to the recipients, in an appropriate and accurate way, evaluation results.
  • Elaborating psychological reports in different policy areas.
  • Complying with the ethical demands of Psychology.
